Founded in 1930 and headquartered in Birmingham, AL, Mayer Electric employs over 1,100 people and has annual sales of over $741 million.
Mayer Electric has rapidly advanced in technical maturity over the recent previous years. Communication is essential to Mayer Electric’s business. The company had been using numerous third party tools to collaborate with one another, share documents and files, perform archiving and legal holds, and manage security and compliance. The number of third party integrations was becoming extremely cumbersome to manage and was not a sustainable long term strategy. Mayer Electric needed a cost effective email and messaging solution that would streamline communication and collaboration throughout the organization. To create more efficient communication within the company, Mayer Electric determined they wanted to take advantage of the availability offered by cloud hosted solutions.
Microsoft Office 365 was identified as the solution of choice because it offered Mayer Electric email availability as well as instant messaging and online meeting capabilities that could be leveraged to increase collaboration in the organization. Intucio assisted Mayer Electric with the implementation and migration of their current Exchange environment to Office 365. Intucio created and configured the Office 365 tenant, including custom domain set-ups and configuring authentication. Intucio also installed Azure Active Directory Connect and Windows Server Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) to synchronize users and to provide single-sign-on for Office 365. All user email was migrated from the Exchange environment to Office 365, including all public folders.
As a result of this engagement, Mayer Electric has all of its email users migrated to the Office 365 environment. The new uniform environment has reduced the need for many previous third-party tools and has enabled streamlined communication for all employees – increasing collaboration throughout the organization.
